Absolutely… well something actually. I have been reading around the topic of how games can educate and one of the principles of enjoying a game and effective learning is that nothing is at stake. While people do become immersed in these worlds game designers imagine, they can almost always take an outside view and realise the difference in the real world and reflect upon it.
One of the big things Gee points out in his work is that games allow perspective, playing as a US soldier in the middle east is all too common, games from the other perspective such as ‘Under Ash’ allow a different views of events. This is why i firmly believe that games such as the new Call of Duty should not be changed out of respect for soldiers, it should be kept in to allow constructive thinking about the event as a whole.
